Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker (MHASW)?

A Mental Health Accredited Social Worker is a highly trained professional specialising in mental health care. They provide evidence-based therapy, support individuals facing emotional and psychological challenges, and help clients build coping strategies for improved well-being.

How long does therapy take?

The duration of therapy depends on your personal circumstances and the nature of your concerns. While some people benefit from short-term therapy (8–10 sessions), others may require longer-term support.

What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is about understanding your concerns, goals, and expectations. We will explore your background, discuss potential therapy approaches, and create a plan that works for you. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and express your preferences.

Are sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a fundamental principle in therapy that ensures a safe and trusting environment for clients. At Brauer Counselling and Consulting we are committed to maintaining the privacy of all client information within ethical, legal, and professional practice guidelines.

Confidentiality in online counselling is maintained through secure, encrypted platforms. Sessions are conducted in private, and no recordings or transcripts are made without your consent. It is recommended that you also ensure privacy on your end by choosing a confidential space for your sessions.
