Carer Support: Therapy for Those Who Care
Supporting Carers: Recognition, Resilience, and Well-being
Are You a Carer?
Do you provide unpaid care to a family member or friend living with a disability, chronic illness, mental illness, substance dependency, or age-related frailty?
If so, you are a carer.
Many carers don’t identify as carers or go unrecognised by professionals and the community. This lack of recognition can prevent them from accessing vital services, support, and thereby increasing their stress and isolation.
Caring can be emotionally, physically, and mentally demanding, often leading to stress, exhaustion, and isolation. Many carers experience lower well-being than the general population, making support crucial.
Carers need to be recognised and supported for all that carers do to support our community.
Preventing Burnout & Managing Stress
Caring for someone else shouldn’t mean neglecting yourself. Therapy can help with:
- Recognising the carer role and its emotional impact
- Managing stress, exhaustion, and burnout
- Navigating identity and role changes
- Balancing care-giving with personal well-being
- Coping with transitions, such as end-of-life care or residential care placement
We provide the support and recognition that hidden carers need. With over eight years of experience as a therapist, advocate, and program developer, Kim specialises in helping carers build resilience, find balance and receive the recognition they deserve.

Kim can also offer support to family and carers to navigate through their grief and support them in moving forward. When a loved one is nearing the end of life, families and carers experience emotional, psychological, and even physical stress. Counselling provides crucial support during this difficult time, helping individuals navigate grief, make informed decisions, and process complex emotions.
Key Benefits of Counselling for Families and Carers:
- Emotional Support: Helps manage feelings of sadness, anxiety, and guilt.
- Guidance in Decision-Making: Assists with practical and medical choices regarding end-of-life care, including Volunteer Assisted Dying.

Professional counselling offers a safe space to process emotions, find comfort, and receive guidance, ensuring that both families and carers can cope with loss in a healthy and supportive way.
